Vinted Users Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
