Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior official stated the incident left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
